Areas to Assess

An overview of the areas we suggest you assess to get your family fundamentals in order:

Mindset – Nowadays, everyone knows that running a successful business requires the right mindset. There are thousands, if not millions, of business coaches who will help you change your mindset for business success. But did you know the right mindset is essential to lead a successful family?

Are you in a mindset of blame and competition or of cooperation?

Mission Statement – What is the overall goal or purpose of your family staying strong and united? The mission you decide upon should be inspiring to all members. This is vital for success in working together as an organised group.

Roles & Responsibilities – Many conservative families in the West and most families in Eastern cultures have strict rules around family roles. Roles are essential in a family, yet no one should be a servant or slave in your home. All roles should serve a united purpose, with lower-status jobs being shared or done as a paid chore.

Sit down with your partner and determine the basics of your family’s organisational chart.

Facility Layout – Get your home in order! Once family roles are allocated, the next step is what is known in business as your facility layout and design. Is your home environment clean and well-organised, where everyone can find things they need to take care of themselves and fill their roles without asking?

Policies, Procedures, & Limits – Consider making a beautiful book of these rules that will one day become a family heirloom.

Agreements  – How are decisions made in your family? Putting a decision-making process in place will ensure disagreements become creative and productive and will not fracture your relationships. Without a decision-making process, everything will be fine. . .  until people disagree.

Conflict Resolution – How are conflicts resolved in your family? Having a solid process in place you are able to facilitate is the real test of your ability as a family leader.
